The best time to organize a document is while you still remember why you saved it. Paperspell gives each record a name, a category, and tags, alongside its pages and extracted content.
Start with a recognizable name
Choose words you would use when looking for the document: “Apartment insurance — 2026” or “Washing machine receipt.” You can rename a saved record when a more useful name comes to mind. Consistent names make lists easier to scan.
Use categories for the broad topic
Group documents by the topics that fit your life. Categories can be created and edited, so your library can reflect the paperwork you actually keep. Documents without a category can also be found and organized later.
Add tags for another way back
Tags help connect records across categories. A trip, a year, or a household project can be a useful tag. Keep the set small enough to remember, and use the same wording for related documents.
When the library grows, search and filters let you narrow it by category, tags, and time period. Start with one scan or import.
